After arriving in Mombasa, Kenya the previous evening, I set out the next morning to go on a fantastic street food tour for breakfast! Join me on my breakfast street food tour of Mombasa, Kenya!

Mombasa lies on the Indian Ocean and has been a trade hub for centuries. It’s also the street food capital of Kenya and the country’s second-largest city.

MAALIM CAFE: We started in the kitchens with some fried potatoes with chilies, sweet chapati, and bananas (matoke) with coconut cream. Then, we had tamarind juice with ginger, chapati, maharagwe (kidney beans in coconut milk), sambosa, chai, bhajia, supa ya nyama (beef soup), viazi vya rojo (tomato stew with potatoes), and fried red snapper. We ended with some biscuits!

4:05 pass the hot chapati 😂😂😂😂

This vid has inspired me to go down to Mombasa after Easter for the food. The beans in coconut milk and the cassava chips are calling my name 😀

David found an enthusiastic foodie local guide in Ke. Awesome content! I have seen so much that I didn't really appreciate in our own local cuisines

David make sure you don't leave without having the roasted maize scrubbed with lemon and grated chillies as well as mangoes with grated chillies

The street foods looked so tasty/delicious and a lot of them are very natural/healthy...esp the plantain with coconut creams and the tamarind/ginger drinks. Another great showing of the delicious street foods of Kenya. Thanks David and Tasos and stay safe on all your travels. Blessings.

At 8:30 the guy said ''Baba ebu kakae kando twachie sisi tuliosoma'' which translates to ''Kindly stay away, And leave them to us who are learned''🤣🤣

Well, well, well David, the foods gets better with each video. Love the menu but the fruit that they called "banana" was actually "plantain". It looked like a de-constructed oil down with just the plantain and the coconut milk. The chapati looked really good too. I am glad to see you all drinking the tamarind and ginger juice which is very healthy and good for digestion and your blood. And my favorite chai (I get chocolate chai here in Toronto), besides other flavors as well. Always end a meal with a hot drink especially if the meal has a lot of grease and fats. Tasos' facial expressions are priceless. You all make me laugh and it's very entertaining and enjoyable to watch. So it's off to explore some more of Mombasa and waiting to see what's next. Take care and God bless 🙏🤗💛🇹🇹🇨🇦

Not bad David, however being from Mombasa myself I'd rather say its better to have a proper guide from Mombasa who knows better of all the cool spots and what each of these dishes represent to the coast, and also contain. I still enjoyed the video and happy to see you enjoying the food and culture 😆

Hey David. Omg. This food looks delicious. The chapati is our (Guyanese) Roti but theirs looks more like naan consistency. Our Roti cooked softer and a little looser and flakier. But love all 🙌🏼. Yes. Definite Indian influence. Lawd tamarind ginger juice. 😋. The minced beef samosa 😋. Potatoes. Fried snapper. Your face was like - don’t nobody want no biscuit 😂. Great Vlog David. Thanks for sharing and see you next video.
