My school does a trip here every 2 years! I live in the UK so we can drive through the Euro tunnel, France and Belgium which takes about 7 hours. We go on a boat for dinner when we visit. When we go we also visit Phantasia land which I really recommend. It is a long drive from our hostel though!

Cologne is like:
1. It takes forever to get into the city center
2. The parking meter ticks relentlessly while browsing the department store
3. Many inner cities are now like a garbage dump
3. Eye contact with certain individuals appearing in packs must be avoided under all circumstances
4. You have to be careful how you reject the many beggars, since this too can lead to unsightly consequences
5. You can't leave yourself too much time, because before it gets dark you should be out of there
