Vegeta is my favorite character, but I have mad respect for piccolo too. Even though he wasn't born into being a sayian he never let that stop him from becoming stronger. And when you see him amazed it just adds that much more to the scene because he understands the depth of the strength that he feels while the other "hype" characters are impressed by literally everything.
