Queen Elizabeth II’s cousins, Nerissa and Katherine Bowes-Lyon, were born with severe developmental disabilities. They were admitted to the Royal Earlswood Hospital in 1941, an institution known for housing people with mental health challenges. The family officially registered them as deceased in the 1963 edition of Burke’s Peerage, even though Nerissa lived until 1986 and Katherine until 2014. The institution provided minimal care, and they reportedly lived with limited resources, rarely receiving visitors. When this was revealed in the 1980s, the public was shocked at the royal family's treatment of their own relatives. The scandal shed light on the societal stigma around mental health and the pressure on the monarchy to present a flawless image.#RoyalScandal

I wonder if Heads Together was formed with this in mind. It is an outreach to families…not just one on one, or veteran only. HRH Princess Catherine’s brainchild. Nowadays, many people don’t realize that mental illness was taboo for decades upon decades.
