Why HelloFresh and meal kits are not for me.

That’s pretty much the point of HelloFresh. It’s for people who can’t cook but want quick and easy homemade meals in a convenient way. The Amazon of food, if you will.

Let’s be honest, why would a chef use hello fresh? 😂
It’s more for people with limited cooking knowledge who just want simple to cook healthy meals who don’t want to spend hours planning and looking around supermarkets to find ingredients for online recipes

It's okay. Make a bunch of their meals 100 times and you'll be able to create a bunch of meals on your own just like theirs off the top of your head.

For me it's perfect. I'm not very skilled in the kitchen and I only feed myself. And the ingredients are so fresh, in my very unexperienced opinion.

Yes I’d say one demographic hello fresh (and others) is for is us non-creative kitchen folks lol😂 who cringe at the last minute of the work day thought “damn, what’s for dinner?!😩😩😩😩😩”

I agree with the rigidity but I just swapped out ingredients, saved ingredients from one dish to another, changed seasonings, etc. No need to follow the recipe exactly. I just think the simple ingredients are overpriced in the kits. So I use the recipes as inspo and shop for myself still.

I can cook and I used it for limiting food waste and just added what i wanted to the recipe. Sometimes I'd buy boxes for the ingredients and not the recipe b/c I knew something better to make with them.

Personally I don’t jive with them for treating their workers like crap. Not sure how good the service really is, probably isn’t for me regardless which is at most a nitpick

they’ve failed as a company though for how they treat their workers.

If you have little time for cooking or cant cook (cant be bothered to learn how 😅) then don't buy meal kits - learn how to cook with what you've got !

As a mum who has to make new tasty meals everyday I get these Hello Fresh from time to time to get a break. I don’t have to worry about what I have to cook next, my family doesn’t like leftovers so I don’t overcook with these as portions are quite spot on. I’m definitely creative and love cooking, but the practically of these boxes are quite amazing !

what i don’t like is hello fresh for families. you only get specific portion sizes so no seconds, and everyone gets the same amount not good for 2 adults, say a teen and a younger kid

I tried HelloFresh (with a student discount) before getting EveryPlate for a while. They're owned by the same company, but EveryPlate is the cheaper option. The ingredients aren't premeasured as much, so you might have leftover veggies and stuff, which can actually be cool because it's less packaging and you can make other stuff from the leftovers.

It's cheaper than HelloFresh, but it's still like $50+ a week, so you gotta factor that in. Plus staples like eggs, flour, butter etc. aren't included, so you gotta check to make sure you have everything in stock before you actually start cooking.
