BMW X6 M60i review: This car has lost its mind!

Say hello to the updated BMW X6!

This sporty coupe SUV has had a mid-life facelift, and Mat’s about to see whether the changes over the previous model are an improvement!

For starters, let’s check out the design. We’ve got our hands on the M60i edition, which means it comes with several design tweaks over the standard X6. Around the back, there’s a set of exaggerated exhausts and a mini bootleg spoiler, while along the side we have some aggressive side skirts and the carbon fibre trim door mirrors. Up front, there are some new light designs, and the aggressive upgrades continue with a new bumper.

Step inside and the X6 is a seriously nice car to sit in. The dash has been redesigned over the previous edition and now comes with a huge curved infotainment and digital driver display. Annoyingly a lot of the car’s functions are now controlled through the screen, but we can forgive it given how nice the cabin is to sit in.

When it comes to engine choices, the X6 is available with internal combustion engines only - no hybrids, and no electric editions here! The entry-level is a 3-litre straight-six turbo petrol, while the range-topper is a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 like we have here. This can deliver 530hp, although annoyingly this isn’t an increase over the previous X6 M50i’s performance stats.

The New BMW X6 starts from around £75,000, but if you want to go for the X6 M60i, it’ll set you back around £116,000! So is it really worth it?! You’ll need to stick with Mat and see for yourself…

man when will car manufacturers understand that controlling stuff through physical buttons is what literally everybody needs?

Six touchscreen presses to change a cruise control setting on the move - MADNESS!

I still can't get over that 0-60 time. 3.87 seconds, in the wet, gripping that well is simply majestic 👏

Why car manufacturers thought by putting the majority of physical buttons into the infotainment screen was a good idea is beyond me!!

Headlight controls on the touch screen? That should be illegal .

If im not mistaken u can put the parcel shelf under the false floor. There is a cut out for it towards the right i think. 16:40

It's so awesome! It's incredible how it manages to combine the worst parts of a sedan, a coupe and an offroader in on, while not having any benefits

That was the perfect self-parking for a BMW

I’ve had several bmw’s over the past 20 years. All new various models including a 2021 X6. I fully intend to get another one M or possibly M Competition.
I’m very picky, and in all honesty these are very great to own. Much more versatile and fun than other SUV’s.
I actually drove mine from NY to Florida last year the whole trip with my second bout of Covid 😝
I’m really glad I had that X6, it was a pleasure, all things considered.

Hi Mat. Enjoyed the review as usual. I have the X5 and I think you can ask BMW assistant to change the heating settings hands free. Another nice feature is when opening the dorrs at night the surround colours change to flashing red so as traffic over taking from behind gets the warning of open door. Cheers for now, keep up the good work.

Upgrade to crystal elements for a bit of gypsiness.

I can’t believe that a car of this price with so many (unnecessary) gizmos doesn’t get a rear window wiper and can’t manage to hide it’s reversing camera so that it remains usable when you actually need it.

Haha love the stick you use to check the exhausts. Incredible sense of humour.
