Field Notes vs Rite In The Rain Memo Book - EDC Favs Compared

What's good and back about the Rite in the Rain waterproof notebook? Are waterproof notebooks any good? Can I used them with a gel pen? Is a waterproof notebook worth the trade-offs for me? Is the paper any good on a Rite in the Rain notebook?

Hey Sal, solid video. Thanks for taking a look at our stuff, and good call looking at the "What to Write With" section. You're right, water-based inks just won't adhere on our water-resistant paper. Pencil, ballpoint pen, permanent marker, crayons, and pastels all work great on Rite in the Rain.

I'll say that we have 100's of notebook styles - small staple-bound books, large hard-cover books, etc. Our 3-pack of mini stapled books comes in $1.40 cheaper than Field Notes MSRP as well.

If you need something durable, especially in a back-pocket EDC notebook that might get tumbled in the wash or sweaty, Rite in the Rain works great! Much appreciated.

I have been using the rite in rain notebooks since 2008. They work very well with the rite in rain pens. They are expensive. They were always issued to us in the Army.

I've been using the Rite in the rain index cards and have tried MANY different pens, the Sharpie retractable with the ultra fine tip works best for me and although I have not tried their note pads, I suspect that would hold true for them as well.

Will uniball 307/207+ work on this? Because their gels but the ink is designed to work on photo paper so I don't know.

I like the design of Rite in the Rain pocket notebook especially the B7 size 9 x 13 cm or so (3.5 x 5) is nice I just don't like the paper; wish they made also uncoated versions (regular paper in 3 to 4 mm lines for those of us that write small) plus I prefer inside covers and back cover to be plain so I can write important quick check phone numbers at work for example etc etc;
The stapled notebook is horrible in my opinion
