HEMA drip idea:Mr.Aggressive. They have no clue how to actually sword fight, so they just aggressively swing at you with no cover or parrying whatsoever. Every time they lose they blame you for being a coward and not being more aggressive, and every time they win they scream preach that parrying is for the weak

HEMA drip idea: The fiddler (or “The Adjuster”). They own three different jackets, four masks, and don’t even get started on gloves. They’ll spend half your sparring session getting set up for the “optimum” combo of gear for the weapon set, make one play, then say something feels “off” and go back to adjusting. If they loose, it’s because they weren’t using the right combo. If they win, they’ll spend 10 minutes talking about how the exact tailoring of their jacket allowed for the perfect thrust.

Thankfully this behavior is limited in HEMA because we tried our best to never have a unified ruleset for people to exploit, unlike other heavily sportified martial arts
