I tied this up for the first time using olive cdc and have found it to be absolutely deadly fished on a size 12 or 14 hook for still water rainbows. Just leave it floating on a short line and wait for it to be !!

can i use deer hair instead of the elk? does it makes a big difference?

Only problem I have is with the statement that Elk Hair is hollow. No hair deer or elk is hollow. if you look at a cross section under the microscope you will not find any hollow area. It is more like a cork with air passages around the internal fibers which make it floatable with the hair getting more solid the closer you get to the tip.
