In this video I make a full set of terrain for Warhammer 40k in under an hour! I wanted to show what is possible for people with limited time. Everything is made with super cheap and easily accessible materials too.

One of the few channels I consistently watch regardless of topic. Eric your passion and love for the hobby always comes across so genuine and always inspires me on my own projects

A quick technique to cover the cardboard ends is to put on an old pair of gloves and spread hot glue across the surface prior to painting. Fast and super effective. Thank you Eric for all your inspiration.

8:15 ahhh yes, the moment when your nicely planned terrain time devolves into a Space Hulk session, hate it when it happens to me too 😆

Honestly miss the easy deploy down and dirty terrain of the 90s 2000s that isn't trying to mimic 40k terrain but is more abstract

Hey Eric, as a jumpy person i appreciate that you didn't put in a Jumpscare and thanks for being honest about it :)

While I wouldn't limit yourself to one hour...I have done something similar to this many moons ago. Shortly after college we decided to randomly play Mordheim - and no one had any of the terrain on hand. I cut and built a crazy 3'x3' Mordheim table out of cardboard, hot glue and popsicle sticks...dusted everything in 4-5 different grey/brown spray paints and we played a small campaign over the next few days. In the end it went straight into the trash. Not ideal, but it gave use the vertical/crazy/twisted Mordheim vibe we were looking for.

For texture on simple buildings you can also try that chunky "rock finish" spray paint that some hobby shops carry. Easy, even if the cans gum up really quick.

Fast, simple, effective. That’s right up our alley! Great work Eric.

To take each building up a level, fill the hollows in the corrugated cardboard with putty/wood filler/plaster/hot glue and then stick in bent bits of paper clips to look like torn rebar.

Solid set of starter terrain for sure. It might be interesting to see another video upgrading them. Another hour to fill those open cardboard edges, add some greebles, give the paint job a bit of a boost etc

The best thing about a project like this isn't just that it's quick, but that you can continuously improve the end result.

You can set aside 60-90 mins to build a few buildings and call it good, then at a later time you can spent maybe half an hour to add details like windowsills and exterior trim, later you could add rubble, broken furniture and signage. over the course of weeks, months or even years you could go from a simple ruin like this to some genuinely impressive terrain, but at each step you still have perfectly usable terrain.

Love the idea of just cutting the corner of a box and not having to measure or glue. Amazing job!

My country doesn't have raccoons, can I still do this project?

Yeah, I was hit with a midroll ad

Adding a jumpscare in an arts and crafts tutorial video is absolutely diablolical.

Instantly subscribed. I have a lot of leftover cardoard boxes, limited budget for terrain and little time to paint. You've just showed me the solution to all my problems :D

man i love when people try to make wargaming more accessible. Its a fun challenge to try and get an army together with just old toys and simple crafting. The real challenge is to be a wargamer and not let it take over your life lol.
