Orbit wifi sprinkler controller install - long version

This is the uncut version of the Intermatic sprinkler timer control swap out to Orbit wifi sprinkler controller. If you want to see how to do this job quickly, I'd suggest finding the abridged 6-min version at 4x speed. I wanted to share this entire process to highlight the joy of fellowship with friends even when tending to rote, boring DIY projects. Enjoy!

Love how you ended the video when you realized it wasn't going to work... You're going to need to run jumpers between the zones to get it to do what you want.

Great video on how to wire up the Orbit timer ! I loved the expression on the technician's face after he cuts the power cord and the commentator says " let's think about this before you cut it " LOL ! Thank you for the video.

Hi, thank you for this video.
Can the b-hyve still be hardwired if power is 220?

Question, obviously you used the existing wires from the old Intermatic, so you just placed one into Zone1 and the other into the COM port. If you have multiple zones, does it still work where it will go on to the next zone once it shuts off and restarts again?

Question- I have a 6 zone index valve on a well pump. Halfway through my install of the B-hyve from Intermatic controller, I’m not sure I can wire this correctly? I have 3 wires from the pump, and 3 from the house. (Ground, load, neutral) the video showed me how to wire the power to the controller, but how do I wire my 3 pump wires to this controller? I understand it will all be on zone 1, on off on off to cycle the 6 zone index valve with a 1 min delay between zones. I just can’t figure out how to wire the pump to this controller. Or maybe I can’t and need a different controller? Thanks!

You could have removed the cover from the transformer on the controller and hard wire directly to the relay instead of splicing the cord like that, more professional and much cleaner look.

I do sprinkler sys you only have 1 zone you have a index valve it is better to take out the index valve out and put in line valves in

Bought an Orbit timer, stripped the power cord a few inches just to see but I did not see a green wire... Just black/white /w white insulation. Did I just not cut it long enough? Trying to hardwire in like this video that has Green/White/Black so unclear what is the next step.

You lost me at cutting the cord vs removing the connector and hard wiring it properly

Did it work with one zone or did you change the valve?

This won’t work with an existing 220V Intermatic timer powering a well pump.

Is that timer for outdoor or indoor there is a difference

Did you use jumper between the zones?

You need start times on how money zones you have

Stranded and solid wire are very different
Stranded wire can hold more power due to the amount of wires within the same cable.

I'd remove the index valve better for the coustmer
