What I use to fill in seam lines, tiny imperfections or spots where the styrene didn't fill the mold, I take the remains of the Tamiya liquid cement, the last maybe 15% left in the bottom of the bottle, and I put small pieces of the plastic sprues from the kits into the bottle of cement which turns to liquid plastic and it works beautifully for any modeling needs you have!

Seriously, I've been doing it for a few years now and it's much better than any model filler or putty on the market and it's so easy to work with you won't believe why you hadn't thought of it sooner.

I was staring at the bottle one evening with about a 5th of the liquid cement in the bottom of the bottle all cloudy and ugly looking, cuz it's not clear after so much use, and I saw some sprue trash on my work bench and I thought... what if I cut the sprues into little pieces and placed it in the liquid cement, would it make a decent plastic goop or putty and it worked great!

If you want thicker, add lots of sprue plastic and less if you want it thinner. Either way it is the perfect filler for lines, seams, cracks, you name it and guys it works beautifully, you'll see if you give it a try.

I have some of the AK modeling putty which I think is similar. This makes it seem so much easier than I was worried about. Thank you!

how long do we wait for it to dry though? The package on Tamiya putty says 17 hours, which seems kinda unreasonable :p

I use Vallejo putty and Mr. Surfacer 500, 1000, 1200. With each you can spread it on the seam, let it dry, then take a Qtip and dip it in cellulose thinner and spin it while going over the seam and it will remove any excess while leaving the putty in the crease to fill. Super easy.

I wonder if a clear or white epoxy would work for an alternative?

Hi
Nice work!
I have seen people will use some kind of putty to use in masking off before paint. Then pull it out when everything is dry. Do you know what this is called so I could order some?

Can this be used for large fillings? Like a cutout in a fender for a spare tire?

Good stuff. How strong is the putty compared to the wood? Of course acrylic gets strong. Turns into plastic. Lets say u fix a baseball bat with it. Extreme example maybe but still. A big hole like 1 cm deep and 2cm wide. Then sand it and paint it? Would you get away with that?

How do I always seem to get the product that no one uses, lol. I picked up some Mr white putty from home Depot, ran into some frustrations, went to YouTube and every video I click on uses everything BUT this one, lol
