@ChuCk230e Water jet cutting is awesome for welding. No oxidation, no dross, no cleaning necessary for most applications. But It can be expensive to have done. The Machine Shop I was working for had a contact with a water jet and chose to get it done that way. Plasma would work, but there would be cleaning needed prior to tig welding.

I use Metabo grinders. More money but great product. I have both paddle and thumb switch models. The thumb switch model has a feature that in the event of any loss of power ( cord coming unplugged) while the switch is on prevents the grinder from starting even if the switch is still locked in the on position when power is restored till you turn it off then switch it back on. Great feature.

Been doing metal fabrication for over 20 years. Every now a then I get stern reminder not to get complacent with the 5 inch grinder too. Had one jump out of my hand a while back when rushing through a job, and land in my lap, fortunately my cotton underwear wound up in there and slowed the blade before it cut too deep. a few inches to the left and id be a lot less man. Got a cool scar to remind me that no matter how much you use a grinder and how comfortable you get with them always take appropriate precautions. Glad you didn't slice too deep mate.

Jody, I want to buy a strong hold fixture table but I cant figure out if its worth it to get the nitrated finish. Can you give me some practical advice from someone who has actually used it?

Great work! Sorry to see you got injured young man. I have had two FEIN 4inch angle grinders (Burnt out after ten hard years service) and one had proximity pads to set it going, you had to touch two pads at the same time and as soon as you let go it stopped. FEIN seem to have stopped making those. I now use Hitachi because there isn't a local FEIN dealer anymore for servicing.

I've got two of those Chicago grinders, they are tough. I bought my first because a fellow machine shop has used one for 4 years every day without replacing the brushes. They do make a paddle wheel I believe. They aren't the quality of DeWalt or Milwaukee, but they aren't bad at all.

Just got my first TIG welder just a small Eastwood 200 DC Only for a hobbiest looking to practice do you recommend getting a 40 cuft tank or 125 cuft tank its $100 difference I can trade up at any point, also is there anything else I should get to really dig in I bought $100 in steel a pack of 3/32 tungsten from your site TIG finger and strong arm magnet 1 lb 3/32 and 1 lb 1/16 filler rod, and .30 mig spool, finally I've seen on another channel you can weld aluminum on DC but it's not as pretty is this true?

All things equal; for an automotive shop building hot rods and customs what do you recommend: a waterjet or a cnc plasma machine? If can care to, list your favorites. Thanks much. Enjoy your videos.

I am the same way, I only buy paddle switch girders. If I have to I will us trigger switch girders but I would never buy one.

Great videos and exceptional work. Maybe you should try the MK Morse metal saw. A lot faster than a bandsaw and very clean cuts as well.

Are the holes in the bottom caps of the table legs drilled and tapped for the M20 threaded shanks on the roller feet or are they just thru-holes (not tapped)? Thanks

Jody,

When I needed another angle grinder I got a $19.99 Pit Bull Angle Grinder Kit from Amazon.

I own 5 HF grinders, but have yet to own something so crappy, poorly designed & assembled, & so downright insanely defective as this new grinder: With my 1st use it started billowing smoke, & was so hot I could not touch it. Then it died (thank god).

A product liability lawsuit waiting to happen.

Therefore, in comparison, Harbor Freight grinders are the DeWalt and Makitas of power tools!

Great video! I wanted to ask, what tooling package did you get with your table?

Don't use those crappy HF cutoff wheels! Message me and I'll message ya back with the folks I go through in Toledo. I get CGW 5"X .045 for a great deal! They last a long time too! The best cutoff wheel I've used out of the other brands I've used in the shop.

Oh, and I agree with the paddle switch thing! Best way to go!

How do you do all that without extreme warpage.  When you tack weld the uprights and then remove the clamps prior to finish welding, how do you stop it warping?  No matter what I try, if I were to do those fillet welds, I would end up with the tops nearly touching.  Same as with the square frame.  I would end up with the sides all bowed.
