This interview was a breath of fresh air. Even though I never had the opportunity or privilege to personally train under Guru Inosanto I trained in Miami Florida with his student turned instructor Sifu Dwight Woods where Dan Inosantos drills, techniques, and philosophies were always a part of our classes. This was awesome! A living legend.

I just Googled Amos Alonso Stagg. It’s kind of mind blowing that Guro Inosanto trained under him in football.

As a chef, I really appreciate and identify with the food analogy. It has helped me understand the cultures and people that I work with and serve. I have trained in several different systems or a few decades. I had the great honor to meet, train, and spend a day with Mr. Inosanto back in the late 70`s. His time and attention were priceless to me, not just because of his knowledge, skills and training, but his graciousness as a human being. If you want to learn about martial arts you will find that in him, If you want to learn about life.... there is no one better in my opinion.

I miss training at the academy and just listening and learning from Guro Dan. He's such a great teacher and I appreciate him more because of how great he is and the humility he carries with that greatness.

Thank you JJM for doing this. I also caught the interview you did last year when the Pandemic started but this one was even better. Guro is such an amazing person even beyond his incredible Martial Arts Legacy and just a wealth of knowledge and history. He always has and always will inspire me and countless others. I am humbled and honored to refer to him as him my Teacher/Guro/Sifu. Thank you.

As a JKD practioner, from southmerica, my instructor have experience learning from Guro Inosanto and Mestre Machado in seminars and indirectly from their students, I admire not only both being friends and master/student dynamic, both are such humble and genius human beings, truly masters of their arts. I could listen to them for hours. Really both truly masters, Is a pitty they are not more recognized. Maybe in the future.

Much respect from Paraguay South America to both masters.

3 of the greatest months of my life spent in that building.. much of that time spent with Sifu Hartsell. I need to revisit soon.

Guru Dan is amazing. Met Guru Dan many times. Also, Bruce Lee, what a legacy, these two incredible martial artists.

“The majority of people who practice
Jeet Kune Do are mixed up, they think it should be a part of Wing Chun, a part of MMA, a part of Thai boxing, a part of wrestling, you know, a part of Wing Chun, which this is completely incorrect. You don't go from style to style, you go from distance to target or target to distance. Longest weapon to the nearest target and the most direct and efficient route possible, that is Jeet Kune Do.”
