For those distante villages, that you have better chance to collect troops... normally you can work cleaning the Hideouts (with the quest is stronger)... you relations will grow faster even without quests. Far villages + opposite area when they are at war helps to get more troops to recruit + higher lvls.

Charm perks Firebrand and Flexible Ethics. They give +1 recruitment. Firebrand for villages and Flexible Ethics for Towns. Its very easy to get at skill 125 and I would suggest picking Firebrand for getting the nobles from castle villages.

I once saw a mod that allowed you to recruit as many troops as you wanted and you could choose which troop you wanted, you just had to go to the village, but I can't find the mod

Eh better to just go to your enemy villages and "persuade" them to give you troops for free! Its better if someone else took the low tier troops on the left, then you get the cream of the crop. And its closer to action instead of having to walk all over
