I started drinking when I was 14, and by the time I turned 17 I was already an alcoholic. From 17 to 23 all my weekends were basically me drinking all day, in my room, and wandering around downtown streets at night, looking for a place to go, always ending caught up in weird situations; and every single one of them could be described by this song the next morning. I would take anything, I'd say yes to everything, I was depressed, feeling lost and hopeless. I connect so fucking much to Cape God! Even its darkest lyrics have a healing impact on me. "Life of the Party" is my rearview mirror song, it reminds me of a place in my mind I'll never allow myself to go again. Don't believe in the lies depression tell you, if you really wanna keep doing with your drugs, at least try to keep yourself aware of your own limits, don't be afraid to ask for help if things get out of your control. Stop hurting yourself in 2021. ♡

Allie, this song means so much more to me than you'll ever know. Last year, I was super drunk and was raped. I can't share which details in my story that also appear in this song, (because this is an ongoing criminal case), but I will say that the lyrics felt hauntingly familiar when listening after the assault. Though this is not the intended meaning behind the track, I really appreciate the lyrics and how it has helped me in my recovery from the trauma I have endured. I have been a fan of yours but never had one of your songs resonate with me on this level. Thank you for everything that you've done. Also, I am not a victim, but a survivor <3.
