Falcon Lake looks like it's made by someone who loved 80s slashers but also had a subscription of Cahiers Du Cinéma, a hauntingly beautiful film.

Truly one of the most beautifully shot films I've seen in years--maybe ever.

This film so perfectly captures the haunting nature of adolescence and young love. Something about the juxtaposition of the gloomy nighttime atmosphere and the vibrancy of the afternoons on the lake really speaks to the ups and downs of love. As you watch, you begin to realize that Bastien is Chloe's ghost, she just doesn't realize it yet--and vice versa. Their fleeting romance will haunt them for the rest of their life. This film moved me deeply as I thought back to my time as a teenager and realized that I can never experience the thrill and pain of young love again.

I would never have found this film were it not for this video, so big thanks!

There is always something about the cinematography of these indie films that completely blows you away.
Great work man as always for promoting these films that people rarely knows about.

As a Canadian (from Alberta) I was very surprised to see this film mentioned on the channel, but I'm glad it was. I'm a huge cinephile and have logged almost 800 films on Letterboxd in the last 3 years. I saw Falcon Lake in Oct/Nov twice in one week, and I can confidently say it's the most beautifully shot film I have ever seen, and also one of the best films I have ever seen. Canadian films have a very different style of filmmaking compared to America, and Falcon Lake is unlike anything you'll see. Charlotte Le Bon has a confidence and vision that is extremely rare to find, and the lead actors (Sara Montpetit, Joseph Engel) have such a believable chemistry that I genuinely can't remember another on-screen couple as good as they were. Falcon Lake is a truly original and groundbreaking piece of cinema, this little film from Quebec has made me a proud Canadian and I think about it almost every day. I'll urge everyone to watch it, and please watch more Canadian films too!

I saw this film at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival. Of the twelve films I saw, it was, hands down, the best, and one that will stay with me for a long time.

I don't like reading reviews on here that speak too much to a film's plot, so I won't go into details there. Suffice it to say, this is a uniquely crafted coming-of-age story, depicted with almost painful accuracy, with more than a few twists and fresh takes on the genre. It's funny, moving, at times quiet and contemplative, other times intense and energetic. The acting is superb, and the score is perfect.

I believe it was Howard Hawks who said, what makes a great film is: three great scenes, and no bad scenes. If that is the measuring stick, Charlotte LeBon has presented us with a humble Canadian cinematic masterpiece. Not a single shot of this film is unnecessary or superfluous. Foreshadowing beats its quiet wings throughout the entire film, building to one of the best closing shots I have ever witnessed on screen. Watching those final moments, even my goosebumps had goosebumps. If you've seen the film, you'll know what I mean.

This film really hurt. It was beautiful. I knew I was going to love it when I saw the trailer and the whole movie passed me by in a mesmerizing blur.

The nostalgic atmosphere of this movie reminds me Call me by your name by Guadagnino

Such a shame that movies like this don't get more recognition, this one gives me the feeling of a Kelly Reichardt film

It is such a tender and honest movie! It brought me to tears, but it also made me laugh. And remembered me how difficult it is to meet someone for the first time in intimicy. It is a very sweet and also raw coming of age movie. So happy I saw it!

I watched this movie at the Torino Film Festival a couple of months ago and I still think about it. I wish I coud watch it again and show it to more people, the photography of it, how the camera lingers on certain scene, the soundtrack, it's the movie that has interested me more in the last year and I'm happy to have been able to see some of it here on the internet, and hoping to watch it again on the big screen.

Just watched this with Charlotte in attendance at the Metrograph in NYC. I loved the idea of kind of a ghost story origin story and what dreamy kind of eerie sense the movie creates while telling an at time sweet story.

I absolutely love your content. I’ve been a subscriber and watching your videos for about 4 years now.
You should do one on Rango someday. I think it’s a very underrated movie.
