Many thanks if you share this on social media and leave a comment!

In this video, we'll discuss the new technologies of the Ariel Atom HyperCar with a powerful 1200 hp. It's equipped with a compact gas turbine engine from Cosworth Catagen, capable of generating 35kW, which significantly extends the range due to this hybridization

Amazing, and show how ahead of the time the early 1960's Chrysler Turbine Car was

I believed gas powerturbine engines was the key to hybrid electric cars, trucks, boats and aircraft for a long time.
The only problem with gas powerturbine engines is the large fuel consumption and the slow torque buildup. A hybrid solve the slow torque problem. They are get closer to solving the high fuel consumption and high temperature issues also.

The combustion temperature of the CatGen is not low because of the constant-speed operation: it is low because of the catalytic combustor. The catalytic approach is used to lower formation of oxides of nitrogen, but reduces efficiency. The heat exchanger is not new: it is a normal recuperator, a design not used in most gas turbine engines due to the weight and bulk (important in aircraft), but common in stationary and ground vehicle applications (such as the Honeywell AGT1500 engine in the M1 Abrams tank). The resulting engine is not light for its power, or efficient compared to ordinary internal combustion piston engines. I assume that the writer knows and understands nothing about this engine or other turbine engines.

I dont really care about cars, but that turbine-generator module would be a cool thing to have! I would love to make a portable generator from it.

That's the TREV engine (Turbine Recharging Electric Vehicle), there was a chinese brand that use that technology around 2016, Techrules, i don't know what happened with them, but they were gonna released 3 hypercars, the Ren, the AT96 and GT96, the last 2 mentioned would have that technology. Now a new brand (Ariel) is making it too.

If only the Global governments moved their EV technology investment to developing a version of this technology to make a reliable, affordable car to buy & drive on a daily basis, the World would be in a much better place.
We can dream, can't we. ha-ha If only

this is a good approach. i drive a plug-in hybrid but the problem is my engine always turns on and off and it isn't very good for the engine. engines last longer when operated continuously than intermittently. also catalytic converter needs to stay hot to work properly and for that every time my engine starts it has to go through heating cycle just to then turn back off. it's stupid. better to keep engine off until battery runs down and then keep it on continuously.

It's a great idea for sure! If you buy me one I'll drive it!!🤣🤣

Microturbine Generators are not new but constant development has continued to make them smaller and lighter without the need for a lubrication system making them almost maintenance free.
This technology would allow for smaller/lighter/cheaper batteries in EVs with the ability to “Supercharge” while driving (needed for heavy duty pickups used for hauling and towing and/or long distance driving)
Another use would be in large agricultural and construction equipment as the power unit coupled to a modest battery pack as battery technology isn’t nearly advanced enough for heavy equipment.

and what about the sound, generated by this turbine?

wthout battery will be perfect. direct connect to differential

Dam! Thats sweet. I want one! The gas generator, i mean! I would put in the hybrid 03 Mustang I'm building. It would solve some of the battery size problems i keep running into! Probably the same reasons Ariel is using it and have a small battery. I don't want to make my mustang that light and im keeping the 6 cyl eng so i would have to put it in the passenger seat ! Dam, now iit just gave me bunch of ideas with the hear off of fhe 6 cyl exhaust to a small gassifier to dam i got to write this down ! Thanks for the ideas.!

For us poor people, we can make one with a turbo and a hybrid ev motor and battery.

the turbine engine may be nice, but the car is absolutely ugly. Like a warthog had a child with a horn spider.

New? This ain’t new. Chrysler has these.

gas turbine engines for everyday use is not that good.. also big consumption

"... the weight is only 1500 Kg ..."
Newton Meter, Watt and Kilogram are SI Metric System units. And in this system of units, kilogram is a unit of Mass NOT weight or force! If you are going to mix the old, obsolete metric system from the 18th Century with the modern metric system, then technically you should be saying kilogram-force for weight because weight is a force. It has the units kilogram meter per second squared = Newton. Say "Mass" when referencing the unit gram/kilogram. One kilogram of mass is the same value on Earth, floating around weightless in space, and on the Moon. But the weight is different at each of these locations. Static weight is the product of mass mutiplied by the acceleration of gravity.

so you gott a electric motor about 46% efficient and a gas turbine 42% that adds up to 19.32 % efficiency. you're nuts.

Interesting info… but BOO for all these AI generated videos! Stupid AI can’t even form a proper flow of info without repeating itself.
