2 months in and i am really loving it but as you said the awkward phase kinda started to begin, so excited to see how it looks in next 4 to 5 months.

I find not trimming the neckline at all and growing my beard so it reaches my neckline gives the best results because it all connects together and creates a really thick beard that can be shaped better.

Totally agree let it grow man be patient don’t trim it don’t line it up just let it grow like the man said at 6 months then you can decide

What I liked to do when I grew my beard out was to never trim it (as said here) and to also use some beard oil or wax to shape the beard in the in-between stages, so that it doesn't look too messy.

I want a long beard but mine is longer than yours. Can you tell me what are you considering a long beard? Because for a person like me I feel at a certain length I start to get splits or dry skin

I tell people this all the time. You have to make it through the "I forgot to shave" phase to make it to the big beard style. Took me countless trys before I made it 😅 in hindsight I highly recommend any brand of beard oil!! Really helps your skin not get so itchy. Also the itch does go away you just have to get used to it. I get asked beard questions from guys who could grow way better beards than me if they just let it go for a while 😂 I'd recommend shaving the sides but not taking any length off

Growing mine out and my neck beard is atrocious 😂 my cheeks don’t really fill out either so it’s just circle beard and neck beard popping out

Interesting. All the bear growing "pros", including when it was a Netflix show, always said it was a defensive game(trimming is good) And it makes sense. The more you trim the more even your hairs will be which in turn will make it look fuller. Now trimming means trimming the top quarter inch a bit. Usually with scissors.

Just for some help as a Mediterranean man with a beard that grows over my entire face and neck. And a beard down to my middle chest lol.
This is subjective. Do you need to stop trimming completely? No but you need to stop trimming the bottom and the neck at a certain point otherwise the chin will grow long and be see through. But as far as the “awkward” phase what I personally do is trim the sides down gently and fly always but again only on the sides with an occasional, and when I say small I mean VERY small trim for the wirey dead ends every few weeks just to keep neat. It will give you that long full yet almost angular pointed beard as it grows longer and longer. Then at a certain point you pretty much stop trimming all together besides a dead end clean up and buzz down the sideburns a bit.
Overall point here.
If you need to keep a beard relatively clean while growing it out. Trim the sides down and clean up your cheeks. Not the bottom. And when I see “trim checks” I mean literally from the cheekbone up. No lower.

What does he mean by a trim and clean-up? What's the difference?

Let your beard grow wild. Don't trim/shape it unless you've gained the desired length. Also, don't use any unnecessary products on your beard because they're all useless and nothing but scam. If you've got good roots the beard will grow on its own. At max, use your regular hair shampoo on your beard and every month (once or twice) use natural coconut oil to massage your beard. Make sure it's natural and doesn't contain any mineral oil in it as that would dry your skin, weakening your beard roots. A great way to check if the coconut oil is natural or not is to put it in refrigerator and wait until it has hardened like white wax... It usually takes overnight, unless it's winter and you can buy hardened coconut oil off the shelf...

December 15th will be 3 months and some change of growing my beard out. I have already done some shaving with my electric shaver but now I’m completely letting it go, neck and all. Excited to see what it looks like.

Doing beard wash and conditioner (2 in 1), beard oil, and I have a brush and comb I ordered that I’m planning on using.

Any beard tips? I’m eating a little better as well so hopefully that helps in some way.

I just started using the beard wash Monday. I will probably wash it again on Thursday or so. Right now I’m just rinsing it in the shower.
