Removing CD-changer / headunit / SD drive in Audi, VW, Seat, Skoda

How to remove navigation main unit, CD-changer, SD card drive, infotainment headunit in #VAG cars (Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, Skoda). There are two ports that give access to locks. By using removal keys you can quickly unlock the device and pull it towards yourself. After that you have easy access to the quadlock connector as well as antenna connections.

💡 Accessing back of the device is necessary for fiber optic loop (MOST) diagnostics, for retrofits (USB port, AUX input, rear view camera, BT hands-free microphone, GPS antenna), and upgrades (example going from Composition Media MIB1 to Discover Pro MIB2).
💡 To #remove keys you can press on the side tabs to release pressure from them.
💡 To install the unit back in car simply push it back in its place until you hear that both sides clicked in place.

ℹ️ This tutorial shows as an example how to do it in Volkswagen Golf MK7 (5G) with VW Discover Media MIB2 infotainment system. But the same method will work in other VAG cars for many different components, including #CdChanger, Audi MMI navigation drive, VW head unit, SD card drive, etc.

xD Dude I got it out without any problems... to remove those hooks I needed your video xD Did everything but not pressed those things on the side jesus... I was kinda afraid of to not get them out, thanks for showing also how to remove them, everyone shows just how to release the radio.

great video! I'm finding it hard to reinstall the CD player. The wiring seems to be blocking the unit from going in all the way. Do you have a video on reinstallation? Or do you have any tips on how to get the wiring out of the way?

Thanks very helpful. I've got a VW T Roc and the Infotainment system is looks for an emergency update. I took it to the VW dealer and he tells me the problem is the 5F control module in the glove compartment but wasn't very helpful with more information. The only component in the glove compartment is the SD card reader that you removed in the video. Is that unit also called the 5F control module?

Hello! I bought the Junsun Android radio 2/32 gb a couple of days ago and I am struggling to install it into my Golf mk7. The main problem for me is I can't figure out how to move the quadlock cable from the glovebox to the center console, without disassembling everything there. Obviously the Junsun radio can't work without connecting to it and it needs to be placed in the same place as the default Golf display unit. Do you perhaps know how that can be done? It's not as straightforward nor simple as I thought it would be.

Please, when I do replacing of main unit, do I need to disconnect also battery from the car or just switched off car is OK and then just disconnect old and connect new main unit? thank you

p.s. I know that new unit has to be coded to my VIN.

Witam. Potrzebuje dostać się do silniczka klap nawiewu v159 w golfie sportsvanie. Muszę zdemontować schowek lecz nie mogę bo wyjąć. Nie wiesz czy może czy należy wyjąć zmieniarke ze schowka by go zdemontować? Dziękuję za podpowiedź z góry.
