The Fire Safety Training Channel -- Video 2
It is common sense and often a legal requirement that your workplace has an action plan to cover the possibility of a fire emergency.
Take a proper interest in this plan because it will make a big difference in the unfortunate situation where your workplace does suffer a fire emergency.
The action plan should cover such basic things as how to make sure that everyone gets out of the building including procedures for people who might be injured or incapacitated.
As well as regular onsite drills, every workplace should have a process for teaching new employees the fire safety procedures within a few days of commencing employment. This video series is one way to achieve such initial basic training and you might even recommend it to your employer.
There are five things to keep in mind with regard to workplace fire training:
1) Do you have written procedures for dealing with a fire emergency?
2) Have current employees received theoretical training in these procedures?
3) Are all new employees given instruction of fire procedures during their orientation
4) Are employees clear about the steps involved in an evacuation?
It's advisable to have regular and practical fire drills and first response training which includes training on things like fire extinguishers, safety doors, evacuation and so forth.
