As the dance music industry prepares for its favorite autumnal extravaganza, Darin Epsilon curates a fifth ADE sampler for 2017. Widely seen as the most important conference in the dance music calendar, a quartet of tracks showcases talents from across Europe and India.

With a lengthy career and considerable back catalog, Andre Absolut has been making recent waves from his Swiss home. He now joins Perspectives Digital following releases for the likes of Flow Vinyl, KumQuat Tunes and Plusquam. Through “Rainmaker”, a tribal percussive groove and bouncing subterranean bass combine with textured pads and shimmering arpeggio lines. Building through a series of counterpoint motifs and in vogue retro vibe, intelligent key changes provide dynamism and emotive content in a work of genuine craft.

Owners of the renowned Qilla Records, Kohra & SHFT have been at the vanguard of their country’s music scene as the Indian duo continue with their unique brand of music. Seasoned artists, the pair have seen success as a collaborative force with a clutch of releases for Traum and Tulipa, with SHFT also appearing on PD under his Vipul alias in 2013. Now finding their feet on Darin Epsilon’s label, a tension-filled offering sees “Skyfall” take on a rich cinematic landscape. Redolent in reverb-drenched motifs and intermittent effects, an emotive arpeggio sequence rises and falls with consummate ease alongside rasping bass and stereo-panned percussion. The result is a work that showcases talent in abundance.

From the banks of the Bosphorus, Mehmet Akar has been involved in the creative arts from an early age at his Istanbul home. A breakthrough year in 2011 saw him become a finalist in Sasha’s “Cut Me Down” remix competition for Burn Studios. Fast forward to 2017 and original tracks for Last Night On Earth, Stripped Recordings and Outside The Box are complemented by a debut for Perspectives Digital. “The Mind Decider” is a chunky groove-laden offering that revels in laidback percussive cadence as a distinct arpeggio filters into sonic range. Accompanied by a breathy female vocal and pounding rhythmic bassline, the hypnotic offering creates a rising tension that snaps and crackles with impressive intent.

Since being crowned the winner in Darin Epsilon’s “One Thousand & One Nights” remix competition on Sonic Academy, Paul Kardos has become a regular for the label during 2017. With additional work on Stellar Fountain, OLD SQL, and Soundteller Records, Kardos continues to impress from his Hungarian home. Supported by the DJ glitterati that includes Nick Warren, Max Graham, and Epsilon himself, Paul Kardos returns to PD with “Mundane Pleasure”, a track full of rhythmic intent and rolling percussive groove. A freeform melodic line meanders across the mid-range before a pulsating modulated bassline fills the lower frequencies in mesmerizing fashion. Building to a mid-point zenith with its ethereal pads and twinkling motif, “Mundane Pleasure” continues with rhythmic prowess in another mature offering from the Kardos studio.
