Use Canon M50 as a Webcam (Capture Card VS EOS Webcam Utility)

Upgrade your livestreams and Zoom calls and use Canon M50 as a webcam. To use Canon M50 as a webcam, you've got two options: capture card or EOS Webcam Utility. I'll show you both these methods and share the pros and cons between the two.

Thank you so much for this video! This is the only video I can find where they mentioned that the EOS Utility was different than the EOS Webcam Utility. I had deleted all the drivers and everything while troubleshooting a problem I had and only downloaded the EOS Utility again and was wondering why it wouldn't work. Once I downloaded the EOS Webcam Utility again it works perfect lol Thanks again.🙌🏾

Thank you for this video. That is a lot of help! As to clean HDMI output, on the Mark I, it's a simple solution with only one button. That is the "Info" button on the backside of the camera. Press this, and you have clean output 😉 And also, you can buy a power supply adapter for the camera, with a dummy battery. Then you have unlimited battery, and if you record to e.g. Camtasia, you may record as long as you want to.

3:30 you can get a clean screen by pressing the info button a few times, hope that helps

EOS webcam software is horrible. They make you pay now to get full 1080p. I paid and the login on the utility doesn't work. It didn't recognize I paid. I'm on Windows 10. Canon really failed with this software.

I’ve tried both of these ways and my Canon M50 freezes/black screens.

I’ve tried everything. New ports. New cables.

Went in camera settings. Window settings. Updated my bios. Updated camera firmware and canon utility app to always have the latest version and still no luck with the camera freezing.

I even have the screen flipped out and facing me too.

eos is a virtual cam, not a software, so it's listed in your video capture software as a recording source.

So from my understanding is that even though the EOS webcam utility is a lower resolution, it’s uncompressed so it still looks pretty good. I could be wrong though

Good video.
Just about the Canon M50I which is the older version. You do have a clean HDMI, you just need to press the INFO button a few times and u will get the Clean HDMI output.

Can you just straight up connect the Micro HDMI into the HDMI port in my PC?
