The reason Rush Hour is so good imo is that every single line that Chris Tucker says in this movie is perfection. I wouldn't change any line of dialog in the whole movie.

The most underrated joke in this movie is when Jackie said he can't use Carter's police ID "This won't work. I'm not 6'1" [edited thanks to the comments]!"

Their friendship seems so genuine because it is. They have maintained a friendship to this day after their work together on this franchise.

Fun Facts: Jackie Chan was frustrated by the production doing hours of safety for stunts. Mats, trampolines, and medical staff such and such. When he just wanted to do the stunts as fast as he can. He never needed that much safety precautions in his Hong Kong movies.

Jackie Chan also did not like Chris Tucker at first. But they eventually do become good friends to this very day. Almost Meta as their relationship was like the movie itself.

“How did they go from bonding to just smack talking each other within 30 seconds?” Well they are guys and generally that’s how it goes. It’s part of the bonding.

"How do they go from bonding to smack-talking in 30 seconds?"

That's male friendship.

Chris Tucker shows why you should always have a bard in the party

The director, Brett Ratner, is a big Bruce Lee fan, and especially of the film Enter The Dragon (a MUST watch classic) where Jackie was a stuntman. He even used the same composer (Lalo Schifrin) of that film for the Rush Hour trilogy.

Rush Hour 2 is even better. One of the most hilarious movies I've ever seen. Chris Tucker at his absolute best, and it's amazing.

In anime terms, Jackie Chan in his Hollywood movies is only using 5% of his abilities. His Hong Kong movies from the 80s & 90s have the most insane death-defying stunts. With injuries galore that caused him to be blacklisted by all insurance companies over there. He's like a combination of Buster Keaton, Tony Jaa, Tom Cruise, etc... 1994's Drunken Master 2 (aka The Legend of Drunken Master) is widely considered his magnum opus. No need to watch the 1978 original since they're barely connected storywise.

There's an amazing YT channel called 'Every Frame a Painting'. They explain that Jackie is so skilled at fighting that it would actually get boring for the audience over the course of the film. So they have to give him a handicap in some way (An object he has to protect or something he's chained to) in order to preserve the tension.

"Johnson" played by Elizabeth Pena who voiced "Mirage" in Pixar's THE INCREDIBLES. Sadly she passed away in 2014.🥺

"He's really just throwing around this bomb like it's nothing."
C4 isn't actually reactive, it won't explode just from being moved around or jostled. You can mold it like putty, set it on fire, and even shoot it with a gun and it won't explode. In order to explode, C4 has to receive both heat and a powerful shock (much more than simply dropping or even hitting it), which is why it's generally detonated with a smaller explosive placed inside it.

This and it's sequel really are perfect movies..

Love how Chris tuckers character isn't just comic relief, a bad cop irl, but a top tier movie cop. It would have been easy to make him just the comedic relief and pure opposite of chan, but instead they make the characters incredibly alike but w opposite ways of expressing relatively similar views.

Lmao, the "what's this shit about your daughter" blooper scene always cracked me up, the look chris's face and hearing jackie chan laughing at him in the background is just hilarious. 😂😂😂

"Wipe yourself off man, you dead." Absolutely cold line from Chris Tucker. Loved that line from the first time I heard it.

Jackie Chan: First Strike is one of my favorite movie of his. Part of his Police Story series. Highly recommend it for some insane stunts and choreography.

Fifth element is Chris Tuckers best performance - hands down.

If you want more Jackie Chan I highly suggest The Foreigner. It’s an action-drama and Jackie’s acting in it completely floored me.
