The Life Story Of Cecilia Chiang And How She Transformed Chinese American dining (by:MeditateRay)
Показать описание
Cecilia was born in Wuxi, Jiangsu, to an aristocratic family with 12 children where she was the tenth of twelve children.
Her father, Sun Long Guang, was a railway engineer who was educated in France, and her mother, Sun Shueh Yun Hui, was from a wealthy family that owned textile mills and flour mills.
At the age of four, her family moved to Peking (Beijing), where she was raised in a 52-room, converted Ming-era mansion that occupied an entire block.
Her father was a rich man, thus as a child, she enjoyed several delicious meals prepared by the family's two full-time chefs. One was from the North and one was from the South.
Although the children were not allowed to cook or go into the kitchen, the lavish childhood and delicious cuisines left a mark on Cecilia’s mind.
Imagine having lots of wealth, a huge mansion, and ability to eat different delicious cuisines daily – life almost seemed perfect for her.
