The longest recorded and most familiar sermon of Jesus is referred to as “The Sermon on the Mount.” All of Matthew 5-7 is devoted to this teaching and the purpose of it is to explain to us what it looks like to live as a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, motivated by the heart rather than by the law. The first part of the sermon is called “The Beatitudes” (which means “Blessings”). There are eight Beatitudes, and they are all intended to be read and lived as a package, not as multiple choice. Join us today as Pastor Gary begins a series through The Sermon on the Mount explaining the 8 Beatitudes.

I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. Today is January 29, 2023. Today is The 4th Sunday after the Epiphany. This passage from St. Matthew was our Gospel Lesson of the Day. And on this day, let us pray for those working in storms and also for vulnerable, blessed ones. BTW, this passage is also read on November 1, which is All Saints' Day.
