Vulnerability or Resilience? Heterogeneity in Black CV Health: The MECA Project

Cardiovascular health disparities impacting African Americans are real and persistent. Herman Alfred Taylor, Jr. MD, shares factors that promote cardiovascular health among African Americans.

Objectives:
1. Review evidence of CV health disparities.
2. Understand that heterogeneity in Black health outcomes may point to important examples of resilience with broad health implications.
3. Introduce MECA as an ongoing, multilevel study of the underpinnings of CVH resilience; discuss early results and plans for future analyses.
