Pretty sure all the middle aged people who are/will be unemployed, especially those with families, are not having such a great time either...

I grew up in eastern Europe in the 90s and early 2000s. I grew up on the idea of no future. World, welcome to the fold

I am 14 and a teen myself and I have a different perspective. We are all in this together and calling it a ‘sacrifice’ instead of us making sure that our community remains safe and healthy in these tough and trying times is the wrong attitude to keep and is only going to worsen the situation. Is youth all about staring at your smartphones, making tik toks, taking pictures, partying every single moment? Yes, we ought to have fun obviously but in such tough times also comes a glorious responsibility to uphold it in a manner that you do the best you can for your community and show everyone love and care. When we look back at our teen years, we can say we made it through the tough times of 2020 with unity and togetherness and love, not division and pessimism, and no matter how bad the year may have been, it has been like no other; seriously one catastrophe after the other. But having made it through all of this is an experience in itself, an unforgettable one definitely. Show love to everyone in the community and help others. Even in such times you can consider it an adventure, because it is better to carry it with optimism and Change your perspective on things rather than be pessimistic.

We all just have lost a year in our life (some have lost their own life)

No, young people should not sacrifice everything to give 85 year olds a few more months to exist (most 85 year olds are not healthy and are just existing because we as a society feel we are doing the right thing by forcing people ro stay alive as long as possible).

I ask all of you to find me a century in history when there wasn't war, disease, and people dying unfairly. Life is not fair and it never will be. Death is coming for you no matter what.

Exaggeration - we speak about 1 or 2 years until a vaccine is available and besides this, lockdowns are not nearly as bad as other events in other regions of the world (like civil wars for example) where you can really speak of "lost youth".

I am 20, graduated back in july.. i started the university and I have zoom classes.. I only go out to work or to get groceries. Only meet my boyfriend and avoid every other social contacts with my friends as it is forbidden as well as risky. I am very stressed and pressured.. Online classes are hard, and I have no chance to calm down as there is nothing to do. I am very afraid and uncertain about the future.

I have a different perspective. These times are a way for reality to remind us the most important values in life. Lessons in empathy, inclusion and love show us not to view times as a sacrifice but as the importance of solidarity in valuing the rights to life for ALL living beings and the repercussions from negation.

Kids: Today I'm going to play online games with my friends!
Media: The pandemic is keeping children at home robbing them of their youth!
Kids: Pandemic?

My mother was born in 1941 in occupied France. My father was born in 1944 in occupied Holland and was 1 year old during the 'Hunger Winter'. My 4 year old son gets to spend more time with his parents this year, but is lacking nothing.

Obviously, there are vulnerable people who have less support in these times. And they might fall through the cracks now that they are not going to school (where a teacher might spot signs of abuse and act on them). It's up to communities and families to keep looking after each other and be supportive where possible.

But you know what? People in general, but children in particular, are very resilient. Our ancestors lived through wilderness and ice ages. We can deal with these temporary restrictions on our decadent lives.

People in Europe have gone through much worse times during war times. This is nothing compared to that. Yes, this is bad, but not as bad as getting your home, family blown to smithers by bomb raids and invading armies. We need to be bit more patient, follow the precautions, help one another and be grateful if live through all of it to tell a tale of it.

It's not sacrifice, but to have common sense. Don't assume that teenagers have to be dumb.

same.

We are day 11 in quarantined and my 4 year old daughter had a panic attack because she can’t be locked in the house anymore. She is very outgoing child and demands to go out even on the rainy day. I am so worried of how she’s going to be affected psychologically? And we are doing this why? For people who won’t be here in few years time? I am not saying that their lives doesn’t matter, but we are sacrificing our young over them 😔
