since this is no longer gonna be on the album, I’m releasing it as a special thank you to everyone in Singapore, KL, Manila, Jakarta, HK, Shanghai, Beijing, Taipei, Seoul, Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo who came out to the shows! It was an honor to play with a bunch of amazing bands and travel to places I would never otherwise be able to go

This song was never finished. its a demo from ~ the lost album ~, recorded early 2013. i lost the ableton file, so its not mixed or mastered. i tried to doctor the mp3 into a listenable state, but it was poorly recorded in the first place and never meant to be heard by anyone, so its a bit of a mess haha.

This song has the same vibe as waking up at 5am but it's for something you are excited to do.

I love how she dances, so carefree and authentic

its funny that this 'bit of a mess' and 'not mean't to be heard by anyone' raw song is in my opinion her best song. This version is beautiful

It's funny how she has this long description of how this song is poorly recorded. It's great and if anything it gives a surreal live-ish sound to it which fits the theme.

This song makes me think of when I moved back with my mom when I admitted I was struggling with substances. I went from a full straight edge kid to a full blown user bc of trauma in my life.
The summer I heard this song it changed everything. It’s imprinted in my life. I always see my mom having me work in her giant garden to push thru my sobriety and even tho it was hard I look back and remember the sun thru the trees and the sounds of summer coming from the woods around her home. I knew it was gonna be ok and this song made me feel hopeful. It’s been almost a half a decade now and my life is so different and much better. I have a place, a car, an amazing job and an amazing fiancée. I never thought I’d ever get out of that black hole I was in but here I am. Thank you Grimes. Thank you for helping me pull thru those hard days with your music. ❤❤❤

Honestly one of her best songs. So happy she released this version here and kept it up.

I have always loved grimes, but this was her musical peak in my opinion. This demo version, not the album release is one of best songs of all time.

There's a Japanese philosophy called "Wabi-Sabi" the art of imperfection/incompletion Grimes stated this song is terrible and that it's not finished but this song is true reflection of Wabi Sabi because this sounds amazing.

This is the song that I always go back to whenever I feel sad, so distanced by everyone, insecure, neglected. I can not accept who I am since I know that I exist. This mindset ruins my relationship with my family, my fiance, my friends. I feel like I have nothing to be proud of although I have so much things to be grateful for. I feel like I live in a limbo.

When we were young, we used to live so close to it
And we were scared and we were beautiful
And when I peered over the edge and seen death, if we are always the same

Oh, and I feel that nothing in life could ever be like this again
'Cause your love kept me alive and made me insane

[Pre-chorus:]
There were moments when it seemed okay
(But I go back alone)
To this moment away, where do you stay?
(I go back alone)
There was a time when the music would play

[Chorus 2x:]
Oh, baby, every morning there are mountains to climb
Taking all my time
Oh, when I get up, this is what I see
Welcome to reality

[Verse 2:]
When we were young, we used to live so close to it
And we were scared that you were beautiful
And when I peered over the edge and seen death, if we are always the same

[Pre-chorus:]
There were moments when it seemed okay
(But I go back alone)
To this moment away, or where do you stay?
(I go back alone)

[Chorus 2x:]
Oh, baby, every morning there are mountains to climb
Taking all my time
Oh, when I get up, this is what I see
Welcome to reality

[Outro:]
Oh, baby, every
(Give me a sign)
Oh, baby, every [2x]
(Give me a sign)
Oh, baby, every
Oh, oh, oh-oh, oh
(Give me a sign)
Oh, baby, every
(Give me a sign)
Oh, baby, every
(Give me a sign)
Oh, baby, every
Oh, oh, oh-oh, oh
Oh, baby, every [2x]
(Give me a sign)
Oh, baby, every

This is her best song… yet she said this
