Here are a couple of others things I learned:

That those who were truly the best at what they did never allowed themselves to be viewed mightier than thou.

That the best in their field were not necessarily the best in their lies. And longevity stays with those that are willing to live an excellent life, not just have an excellent career.

That no one is born to be great. It is a right that you will have to earn through aggressive patience.
