Also even though Irene Adler is incredibly beautiful, I don't think Sherlock would fall in love with someone because of their looks, he picks people's appearances apart all day. No, I think he did/almost fell in love with her because of her mind, because she was as close to matching his own intellect as he could expect from another person (expect Moriarty and Eurus).

In an attempt to modernise the story, they made Irene Adler an overconfident fool.
