In preparation for the end of the Trump-era pandemic policy Title 42 that expelled hundreds of migrants at the U.S. Southern border, the Biden Administration enforced new border restrictions that have lead to a lawsuit from the ACLU. MSNBC’s Alicia Menendez is joined by Pili Tobar, Partner at Fireside Campaigns, and Dan Restrepo, Senior Fellow at Center For American Progress, to discuss the backlash over Biden’s new restrictions, how some Republicans weaponize asylum seekers, and what it will take to see long-term investments in America’s immigration system that will focus on humanity.

Ecuador has had no problem processing immigrants. As soon as we knew half of Venezuela would show up on our doorstep, new facilities went up on the border and rules were posted. Stop the U.S. companies from advertising for foreign workers. The U.S. is getting the poor and uneducated from all over the world. On the other hand, Ecuador is getting wealthy and educated people from both the U.S. and Canada. One of my Cousins in Pennsylvania was just informed that the company he has worked for all his life will be closing shop in January and moving facilities to China and Mexico. Main problem being cheaper labor. Same reason Ecuador has all of the auto production plants now, as well as cheaper cars. Again, cheaper labor. U.S. companies advertise for workers in foreign companies because they work for a quarter of what U.S. workers will.

Here's an idea,
Create a long DMZ with facilities along it for everything needed for immigration.
An intake facility - cursory background check & plan of action for citizenship.
Temp housing - families, non family males, non family females.
Clinic for HC needs.
Offices - NGO's, judges, translators, attorneys.
Education - language, culture, trades, professions, entrepreneurship, farming and farm workers, teachers, nurses, domestic workers, retail, restaurant, docs, science, etc.
Drama & music - providing plays & concerts.
Physical education - all sports, coaching, physical therapy, teamwork.
After a certain criteria is met, transport a group of 100 to each state (there are unfilled jobs in every state) with a year temp housing & employment, monthly check ins, to ensure progress on immigration status or for deportation.
It's a huge endeavor and when we're successful, we can be a model for the world.
