1969 Chevrolet Camaro Restoration RS SS 454 Video [feature] at V8 Speed & Resto Shop

Some restored cars have the look, but still require a bit of refinement and tuning to be road-ready. In this case, our customer had this sweet 1969 Chevrolet Camaro RS SS tribute car restored, but driving it revealed that it still needed a bit of help, so it came to the V8 Speed & Resto Shop for some final details.

The ‘69 Camaro features some parts like a FiTech fuel injected 454 Chevy V8 coupled to a Tremec TKO 500 5-Speed manual transmission, all wrapped in a stock appearing RS / SS trim package. However, some of the "last 5%" details still needed to be addressed to make sure the car was ready for miles of trouble-free cruising. For example, the front tires rubbed the inner fenders when turning, the windshield washer system did not work, there were some loose radio wires, and other nuisance items.

The V8 Speed & Resto Shop team discovered that the subframe had been damaged at some point, and was still bent even after the restoration. After talking the situation over with the owner, the decision was made to replace it with a new subframe from Classic Industries. The V8 Speed Shop crew was able to leave the engine and wiring in place, and removed the bent frame from the bottom of the car. It was replaced quickly, fixing a variety of issues, from the rubbing tires to the poor alignment of the front sheetmetal and RS headlights.

Once the car was re-assembled, the team logged some miles on it fixing details and refining the tune along the way. The result is a stunning ‘69 Camaro that now performs as well as it looks!

I'm a Mustang man, but that's a sweet 69. Very nice.

That’s the problem with using hack job resto shops. I had a similar experience with a nightmare place called TWC Motor Sports out of Ashville, SC. I’m glad you guys were able to make his ride right for him.

Awesome another brilliant video however that is one car that I would love to hear the sound just running not burning tires or anything else just a nice idle absolutely gorgeous!!

The BFGs as shown had browned raised white letter tires instead of the more desirable popping white. I bought a full set of BFGs myself and the letters were browned as well. Any suggestions to solve this problem? They look horrible and would rather a lesser brand like Cooper Tire with popping white letters than a "dirty" appearing BFG tire.

I figured you guys would know since you do great restoration work.

That is one beautiful classic car I sure wish they built cars like that today but that's what makes the Camaros and cars from the 70s such a classic

Rear taillight SS emblem is upside down, or at least looks upside down.
