I worked at jewelry store and we had one older female customer that would come in every Friday afternoon, buy a bunch of jewelry, and return all the jewelry the following Monday. It was company policy that returned jewelry couldn't be resold due to health reasons, so she was costing the store hundreds of dollars every week. Her actions caused the company to change their return policy to store credit refunds only. The store manager awaited her arrival on Monday to break the news to her. The color drained from her face, and she almost fainted. "You can't do this to me. I live on a pension." She started making threats, and the police were called. Then she broke down and said she'd used the jewelry to try and look rich so she could catch a rich husband.

It was sad, but honestly, don't spend money you don't have.

Working in a grocery store, the hot foods lead came up to me one night with this look of both confusion and wonder on his face. Apparently, a customer had picked up a container of chicken from the bunker where prepared foods are refrigerated and then DEMANDED to know why it was cold.

FRIEND: Well, that's a refrigerated bunker, see...

CUSTOMER: Yeah, but WHY???

FRIEND: Because, refrigeration... I'm sorry, are you asking why these are cold, like, at all?

So the guy was like "YES!!!" and my friend explained that the hot foods bar is taken down at seven (it was already 8:30ish pm) but that we did have much of the same product packaged and put out for people to like...heat up on their own, God forbid.

To that, the customer screamed "GODDA**IT!!!" dropped the chicken back into the bunker, and stormed away. And that's when my friend came and found me. To this day, we remember him always as "the But Why Guy".

About the cheap towel shoppers. We are encouraged to donate old, worn out or unwanted towels, sheets etc. to animal shelters and clinics to make the animals more comfortable.
They even say empty used pill bottles are welcome in some locations. My son returns unused medications to his dog's vet.
I may be completely wrong but every cent counts when you're an underfunded charity.
2 dollars instead of 3 each means you can get 3 towels for 6 bucks instead of just 2.
And if those towels were for human use then how many more humans would benefit?
The homeless or homeless shelters for example. Not everyone can afford Egyptian cotton in the colour of your choice.
I didn't think it odd reading about those shoppers waiting just to save a small amount on towels. I wondered who they were helping.

Waited 12 hours for bath towel sale: some times I have to stop and ask what my time is worth. Like once I spent 2 hours v trying to fix a toy one of my kids broke. It cost $2. Finally I realized, even if I had succeeded in fixing it, I spent 2 yours to save $2. Just buy another one.

Back in my Hollywood days my friends lived on Fountain and La Cienega. There was a pizza place a few blocks down and a 7-11 between the pizza place and the condos. So when they ordered a pizza if there was a particular guy they had come to know working delivery that day they would have him stop at the 7-11 for cigarettes. Sadly the head manager finally discovered the delivery guy was doing this and put a stop to it.

Got a call from a man wanting to make a flight reservation to Las Vegas.
“Sir, this is a furniture store”. (It did have a name similar to a major airline)
“But this is the number information gave me!”
“I’m sorry, but this is a FURNITURE STORE!”
“THIS IS THE NUMBER INFORMATION GAVE ME!”
What could I do? I took his information and made him a “reservation “.
Always wondered what happened when he got to the airport.
