Type 4 Chi-To | Overview of the tank and armor
Type 4 "Chi-To" - Japanese medium tank during World War II. It was created on the basis of the earlier Chi-Nu tank and retained its design features, but had a new oversized chassis.
Initially, it was planned to put the Chi-To into mass production in order to replace obsolete tanks based on the Chi-Ha, and also to create a family of specialized vehicles based on it, but with the worsening situation for Japan, by 1944 it was decided to continue the production of those using worked out base "Chi-Nu", without wasting time on mastering the production of a new design. As a result, the start of serial production of "Chi-To" was delayed until August 1945, and in reality it was never launched.
