The STIHL GTA 26 hand pruner is one of the coolest new tools I've seen recently. I was excited when I first heard about it a couple of months ago. The question I had from the start was, what do you use it for. We set out to see what all this pruner is capable of doing.

What can I say about the Stihl GTA 26 Hand Pruner, other than it is FANTASTIC!!! My wife and I have used it for everything from the obvious pruning of fruit trees and shrubs, to limbing up many of the large trees in our forested areas. It is light, maneuverable and will cut through almost any size of wood cleanly. We have shown this pruner to several of our friends, who in turn have gone out and purchased one for themselves. This pruner has been so popular that I had to preorder one 4 months ago to get one in March. Our local dealership sold out immediately, as soon as people heard the Stihl GTA 26's had arrived. I would also recommend you purchase a second battery, so your pruning is never having to wait for a battery recharge.

Just got one, topped all my cedar hedges lopped off between 4-8ft tops saved me a load of time and much safer than standing on a ladder with a gas powered unit. Would recommend a couple extra batteries as the cut time was limited, but what does one really expect outta a small battery? Overall a great little tool.

Honestly :
1) For city people this would be advantageous.
2) In the outback and remote rural locations a petrol powered chain saw would be best.

I wonder if you remembered to add chain oil? Sounds like you didn't.... It cuts A LOT better with plenty of oil.

You forgot to mention that it has less than 10 mins battery life when operating under load (ie cutting stuff rather than just running in open air). So, no, the question isn't "what don't you use it for?" The question is "why would you bother using this for it instead of something that lasts longer?" or maybe "what does this thing do better than other options to justify its price tag despite its miniscule battery life?"

What was the diameter of the last tree you cut? How long did it take to cut it? Looks like a nifty saw to carry on my horse :) Thanks

other than the Stihl AS 2, 2.1Ah battery with avg 9min run time, it would be a useful tool. higher Ah battery would make it a more useful tool, though. I hope Stihl makes an AS 3 or AS 4 battery with higher 3Ah and 4Ah, respectively, soon, at which time I'll consider buying.

Honestly I would recommend buying a bigger battery saw, this works for pruning but is not meant to be used like a chainsaw, like how he used it. It will likely run out of battery quickly doing work like that

u didnt share the pros and cons for this tool. My local dealer said its not for commerical use. Its not self oiling. Another reviewer said the battery life is only 7mins. For the price of AUD$250. A small battery chainsaw would be a better choice. Your comments please (Hendrika)

I use mine for pruning fodder willow and feeding to stock
It is super convenient
I do under cut
Anything bigger I use my farm boss chainsaw

Make sure you are ordering from Sthil. I saw as ad on my tablet and it showed a Sthil GTA 26 but it was advertised for $25.97 don't be fooled by the ad even though it shows a Sthil and you think you are ordering from Sthil you are not I got some cheap handheld pruner blade that maybe cost ten bucks. I was stupid and got sucked

-Eastern Ontario- All STHL dealers/stores, online, everywhere I looked... "out of stock"... it seems doesn't exist!?!?
Everyone, I spoke, waiting for orders and don't know when they'll receive them!!!
I bought a similar one from Amazon but it's a monkey : ) I returned it. I want that one.
Well, I'll pre-order one, and see what happens. Cheers.
