What Are “Less Secure Apps” and Why is My Gmail Not Working?

⚠️ Google is increasing the security requirements for accessing your Gmail accounts by designating Less secure apps. I'll review what the change means and the options you have.

⚠️ Less secure app access
Signing in to your Google account from an email program with just a username and password will soon stop working. Your alternatives are:
- Move to a new authentication approach, either handled automatically by your email program or by re-creating your email account in that program.
- Set up two-factor authentication and use an app password.
- Switch to using Gmail’s web interface.

I manage Dental offices and my solution for now is to leave Outlook and my clients to use the Google Webmail. Doing 2FA, when employees come and go, is a little problematic, since 2FA uses a phone to authenticate and I don't want to use an employee's phone for authentication.

Leo, your recommendation (to update to two part authentication) is all well and good for younger people who are well versed in technology and know what they're doing, but it's too complicated and risky for someone like me. I'm 65, I set up my email account to work on Windows Live Mail years ago, and now it's stopped working. Instead of making me more safe online, it has achieved the opposite - I am no longer able to communicate with my doctors, make prescription requests, use my shopping accounts, friends emails - it has effectively blocked my communication with the outside world! And it doesn't just affect me - I'm a full time carer for my 86 year old mother, and I do all her medical emails too!

What am I supposed to do? Get a brain upgrade? I just don't feel comfortable taking all these steps and risk losing the history of all my important emails. I'm really stuck here.

Google broke the scan to email function of my Canon Printer by removing the less secure apps feature.

I am use smtp mailer to send emails from website ...now what should i do after this feature removed by google should be the alternative for using smtp mailer
