The writing in this show is damn near perfect. The characters are believable, their dramas are realistic, they're relatable amongst themselves and their audience, and their lessons are true.

Even though Bobby was trying to find true love, as opposed to just casual dates and flings like Boomhauer does often, he is still teaching Bobby something valuable. Persistence is key and you're going to get rejected quite a few times before you finally find someone.

This is one of my favorite scenes, because it's realistic. It's realistic in the sense that if you want to be as successful as Boomhauer, you have to play the number's game.

I knew a guy in the Army who was always hooking up, and it turned out this was EXACTLY his secret. He said it usually it wasn't even this bad - more like he'd get at least 1 yes for every 10 rejections. All he had to do was just develop the thick-skin to blow off every rejection and then he was in business. Of course it didn't hurt that he was a fairly handsome guy, like a young Burt Reynolds.

Another good thing in addition to what everyone else has said is: he takes No for an answer. He doesn't badger the same woman repeatedly, he gets shot down and he immediately moves on to the next one.

To be fair, Bobby didn't tell Boomhauer he was looking for real love. Boomhauer was true to his word in teaching Bobby how to pick up chicks though.
