When you install an aftermarket stereo in your car or truck, you'll need an adapter if you want to keep your steering wheel controls. The Axxess ASWC-1 installs behind your radio and lets you keep those controls. Check out how to install this adapter yourself in this video.

You are so more clear in your instructions than Axxess. I learned more in 2 minutes of your video then the 3 instruction pamphlet I had to printout. They never identify which harness their referring to. They had me connecting the swc wires into the wiring harness adapter. Now I have to undo everything before I blow something up.

We need more connection standards for this type of installation! Here in 2022 we should be able to buy a new head unit or other aftermarket radio and plug it in to the vehicle's connector and have it work. That said, I'm glad that products like the Axxess are there to fill the gap.

I just installed a new head unit in my vehicle and couldn't understand the instructions for the ASWC-1, so I figured I would just not use the steering wheel controls. That was yesterday, then I found this video this morning and it looks much simpler--I was thinking all those wires had to go somewhere and I didn't have a clue as to where! Now I can open it back up and get the controls working. Thanks!

Best tutorial for this product by far! This is the 12th video I've watched! This should be the most recommended.

It works on my 2009 Toyota Matrix, only thing that tripped me up is the accessory wire, on the Matrix it's the gray 12volt wire if you're interested.

A little confused connecting a Kenwood to my 2011 rav4. It's a little intimidating. Couldn't find a specific wire list for me

Seems like a better system then the CRUX unit I purchased from you guys. The CRUX unit had 8 dip switches and the instructions showed 6 dip switches. Also after soldering in the wires I then read on forums where people tied the "power Antenna" wire into the "aux power / red" wire which is not mentioned anywhere in the instructions. Still have non-working steering wheel controls. Bummer.
Not at all Crutchfield's fault but may want to note that to the Mfg. Also, went to the Mfg website to get current instructions and "Page not Available" for my model. :) We need a CRUX tutorial please.

I have a 2006 Toyota avalon limited touring with a factory JBL system. I installed the ASWC-1 unit in with my new stereo and followed the instructions exactly. Everything works fine except for this weird glitch where the steering control would work just fine if I let my car sit for 8 hours. But if I take it to the store, go shopping and come back 1 or 2 hours later and startup the car. The steering controls wouldn't work. They'd only work again if I let the car sit for another 8 hours. It keeps following this pattern. What could be the issue?

I'm about to try to tackle a 2007 Ford focus with steering wheel controls, factory Amp with the Sony thq system. Fingers crossed I can find all the info I need on it, just finding the correct stereo wiring harness was a pain lol

I installed an ASWC-1 with my new Pioneer stereo and had all sorts of
problems. At first it wouldn't detect my vehicle at all. I got the
blinking red and green lights. That indicated it was wired incorrectly.
So I reconnected the wires properly and it finally detected my vehicle
and turned solid red but STILL didn't have steering wheel controls. I
turned the ignition off and back on and didn't get ANY lights. WTF
happened? So I gave up :(

Great video!. I have a Kenwood DDX6905S, but at the back of the stereo I see at least 3 options of jacks 3.5. One is an AV audio output, 2nd a iDatalink connector, 3rd an AV-IN. Which is the correct??

I'm trying to figure out where I can connect the red power wire in a 2011 Expedition. Any suggestions? Pin 15 says, "VOLTAGE IN START (OVERLOAD PROTECTED)". Is that a possibility or should it be connected somewhere else?

Also, do wire connections to open pins require soldering?
