Was looking for that Com Truise explosive snare sound. Very simple but makes a huge difference. Thanks for this tip!

Thanks for watching the videos!!! I actually made a video on how to do snare rolls. Search this: Creating Snare Rolls In Logic. The video should be the first one on top. For the vocal editing, we do have a couple of videos posted, so check out the channel, but will have more vocals editing posts!!

of course you can (if thats the sounds you going for). You always want to share similar reverbs on the different elements in your tracks to make it sounds like one song. Plus your CPU will like to for doing that as well as re-using busses with effect for different tracks is the right way to go about doing things when mixing :)

Have to do some synthwave (not that I'm complaining) and this trick has really opened things up. Appreciated!

If you use this technique you'll keep getting something that sounds like When the Levee Breaks. If you want a hair metal snare, you need to put white noise in the tail. A lot of it.

2:38 this is so interesting, thank you for playing the sound gated, ungated, overkill :P and then back on... for people like me who run into comments made by others who pique my interest, in this case, wondering what a gated reverbed snare is! Neat to see how it's done!

Phenomenal job explaining and outcome! Crazy how different it sounds from how it started.

Used this technique for Michael Jackson's song "Remember The Time". Great work.

I have one tiny bit of advice. Use a reverse reverb. This way the attack of the snare comes up at the end of the hit. This was Collins secret sauce.

Snares can be created various ways. When I first got my MPC 2000 in 09' I had to wait a week for my sound library to arrive so in the mean time I experimented with nothing more than a mic, a cardboard box, a dinner plate, a spoon, a hard piece of plastic from a toy, my own natural hand claps and my voice to create closed and open high hats as my first set of sampled drums. Using onboard perimeter filters I tweaked some very unique and cool sounds you can't trace to anyone elses' sound library. Call me the Madd Scientist from the Basslab.

Thank you so much for this. My church bought a Roland m200i and we have a house band. I've been trying to figure out effects in general and reverb specifically. The mixer has a Reverb+Gate and I will try it and these settings during rehearsals. It's great to have a starting point. Again, thanks!

Every time I'm stuck on a mix or just looking around for little tips I see your videos pop up, so incredibly helpful! Thanks again :)

Good job, the first song that comes to mind is "Don't Lose My Number" from No Jacket Required.

Great videos, really helping a lot. One request for this Logic Pro beginner--when you do some routine thing like saving a preset, could you go through that motion too? I did it once last night, but I'll need to figure it out again. Every time I see you do something--even the simplest things, and you don't have to discuss, just do, it helps me remember! This is a huge interface to learn! Thank you!

i like Phil Collins, great singer, awesome voice!
It is that in the 80's & 90's, the musicians had this tendency to mix electronic sounds, influenced by the New Wave, which in turn, influenced by David Bowie, Nile Rodgers, etc ...
I just hate just '''Loudness War''', the sound quality decreases.

Couple questions #1 what EX24 sample did you use ? # which folder do you put the .pst preset in so you can use it ?

Thats bizarre, I only found your channel last night and was immediately thinking of 80's gated snare. If you want it to sound really 80s then you'll want a plate reverb - think 'early digital', all crumbly and like cold sand hitting your face - well thats what it feels like to me! :o)
