The first of two planned SpaceX Falcon Heavy launches in 2024 lifted off on June 25 at 5:16 p.m. EDT (2116 UTC) from Launch Complex 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC). NASA awarded SpaceX a $152.5 million contract to launch the satellite through its Launch Services Program (LSP), which is based at KSC.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) satellites is the fourth and final of the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites - R (GOES-R) series. The GOES-U satellite reached geostationary orbit on July 7 and was officially renamed "GOES-19." It will deploy its megnetometer boom once it reaches the 89.5 degrees west longitude initial checkout position, which is situated between the operational GOES-West and GOES-East. Its operational position will be located at 75.2 degrees West.

I was an engineer for 2 launches back in the 90's - Discovery and a Commercial Titan. We were good at what we did, certainly. But Space X today? They've turned this stuff into an art form. Miles and miles ahead of what we could do back then, no pun intended. Awesome!

I'll never get over the pure magic of seeing those boosters return and land all by themselves.
Not too long ago this was unthinkable.

You know, the launches are great. I've seen a lot of them having been born in 1960. But what REALLY impresses me is the landing of the boosters right back on the same property they came from. It's just sci-fi become reality to me. Amazing.

What pisses me off about being 68 is that I will never get to see the wonderful developments that will follow this decade's amazing progress.

Those boosters landing simultaneously is so impressive. They almost look they're talking to each other; "alright Bob, you ready to impress everyone? Let's do this.

Ok that’s just cool. For once I’m glad the government spent a few tax dollars to help a company succeed. Go SpaceX!

If it was possible, I’d be happy with a ride on the booster.
