I now want to see a GTR with a flathead straight six.

My dad drove one of these in the very early 1960s. He sold it for $25 in 1961, which is $214 in today's money.

This machine is fantastic - I tried to pass them at High Plain Raceway at my usual "spot for slower vehicles" and didn't pay enough attention... I ended up in the dirt... hats off to a great build a great drivers.

What if I buy an old prewar plymouth and cover it in Nissan GTR panels?

Shout out to 3800 SC. Mines still going strong in my 02 regal. Maybe I’ll have to make it a racecar someday

1948 Plymouths were, indeed Deluxe and Special Deluxe, series P-15, with the deathless 230 flathead straight six that made up the Chrysler 30-cylinder tank engine during World War II. Boring cars in their day, but given another boring car's engine (okay, the exciting version of a boring car), it's anything but on a track. I don't think that Plymouth saw an effective restyling until the mid 1950s brought the "Forward Look" styling in.

I would go with a Smart car and an FJR 1300 motor in the passenger seat.

Oops, tuned in on the wrong day... Guess I'll come back tomorrow. BTW, live stream races! Get two cams on the circuit and a leaderboard graphic. No commentary needed.

My yard is not filled with GM stuff...the swampy, old school recycling place with no organization, set pricing, etc 1/8 mile behind my house is. Besides, I live next to a not at all affluent neighborhood where GM abody and wbody parts can almost be picked up off the street.

Almost all the rest is true

Just as a point of information, that stripped pickup front end was on a '60 or '61 Chevy and they had torsion bar front suspensions, so that would have been an interesting suspension swap.

my folks have a 48 plymouth coupe "sedan deluxe" that has the same nose and side shape, but has the rounded boot and only the two doors. its a sweet looking thing, id love to do an audi quattro swap into it and make it a daily, because the body is soooo good, and the awd would be sweet in our shitty nebraska winters

Maybe a third camera in the penalty box for endless humor

Has a lemons team ever run an electric car? Crashed EVs are getting frighteningly cheap on copart and with a strategically placed hole in the rear floor pan the battery could become "swappable". Race on one while you charge 5 others!

Looks awesome, but how did someone obtain an operable vehicle of that vintage - actually looks like it's in decent shape, for $500, much less do the other work on it? I get more and more sense the $500 limit is being less and less enforced to allow fun stuff like this, which I suppose I'm okay with.

So what if you show up with a R34 with a Plymouth Flathead powertrain?

You have not received the “500 dollar Car my big hairy behind” rant from fellow racing experts who know everything? If these cast iron worries can make a flathead finish a race ahead of the Formula 1 engineers let those boys have a free hand with that 2 ton Tessa. The turn off the comments. For about a week. Post the most ridiculous crybaby versions for the week and feeble to read and laugh. That car should GET 3 LAPS for that heep just for the spirit of crap can racing. Best wrap up yet. By the way what ever happened to the 29 Ford the forum Mafia lost their minds over a few years back ?
