Welcome to our new content. As the Weapon Detective, we are investigating modern weapon systems of the Second Cold War. The Weapon Legends is about the older weapon systems. We tell their epic stories, which made them a legend. The Weapon Legends investigates these stories, reads between the lines, analyzes, and tells the untold. You can find technical information, historical backgrounds, what happened during the development processes, combat experience and political projection. Let the wisdom of history show us what the future will be. Let’s investigate the veteran weapons of the past together.

Italy has a very strong navy for its size, their shipbuilding infrastructure is very famous for constructing many cruise ships, if you see a cruise ship there’s a good chance it is built in Italy. They also manufacture naval components and aircrafts through OTO Melara and AgustaWestland which explains why they can operate carriers despite being in the middle of the Mediterranean.

36 fighter jets (if needed) is pretty amazing for such a small carrier, very good design.

Cavour is a beautiful ship as well as a very effective design. Hopefully, before too long we'll see her and/or the new "Trieste" operating with HMS Prince Of Wales while the latter transits through the Med. during her projected 2025 eastern deployment.

Once again, I admire the Italian Navy for going their own way. They produce excellent ships for their own needs, that might one day maybe be exported for other Navies with similar needs. Good on Italy for creating their own pathway.

Like the design philosophy, it's a Swiss army knife of carriers. Great video, thanks for sharing!

In 2010 my father left for Haiti for the White Crane humanitarian mission, as an anesthetist. I had the opportunity to visit the ship with him at the age of 5 but I still remember, truly an amazing ship

'Weap Detective'.... You did a Great Job in showing this posting of the Italian A/C Cavour!!

I am glad you explained ALL Aspects of why and what they use this ship for, not all non-military people understand that A/C CAN perform in "humanitarian assistance". It is too bad that they don't have a second carrier of similar design, but I guess that is what Trieste is for.

Do you have a video/posting of Trieste??

LHD Trieste is bigger, and it's coming...

The RoRo is the best part. That has the quarter the sortie preparation time in port.

Very informative video. Thanks. The motto of some armed forces in NATO is "assurance in friends, fear in foes". Even though the Italians have good equipment, a common joke for the Italian Armed Forces is "concern in friends, joy in foes".

This is what the royal navy should have done, maybe make 4 of them... Instead of 2 average-big lumbering malfunctioning tug boats...
Edit: the UK imho shouldn't have gone for two huge ships, but for a more significant number of ships like the Italian TRIESTE carrier... Now it's too late and most importantly, what do I know... I'm just a teenager...
