If this method doesn't work for you that means your phone is updated with android 11. It's only possible then by connecting the phone to a laptop via USB cable. Hold both power and volume up buttons and this will take you straight to the reset menu.

I followed your process and dunno why after the samsung word logo it reverted back to the first logo that says SAMSUNG GALAXY A12 under it would be the Powered by android. It stays for about 40 mins
