Caramel Apple Dump Cake

2 (21 ounce) cans apple pie filling
Cinnamon (to taste)
1 (11 ounce) bag caramel bits
1 cup pecan pieces
1 (15.25 ounce) box of yellow cake mix
2 sticks butter, cut into thin slices

Preheat oven to 350°.

Lightly spray a 9 x 13” baking dish with cooking spray.

Make an even layer of the apple pie filling in the bottom of the prepared pan.

Sprinkle cinnamon on top of the apple pie filling using as much or as little as you prefer.

Distribute the caramel bits over the apple pie filling.

Place the chopped pecan pieces over the caramel bits.

Sprinkle the dry cake mix over the pecans, spreading it into an even layer with a fork.

Put the pats of butter evenly on top of the dry cake mix, covering the cake mix as much as possible.

Bake for 45 to 50 minutes or just until the top is a golden brown color.

Allow the cake to cool 20 to 30 minutes and then serve with ice cream or Cool Whip.

I use a butter pecan cake mix. In addition I use a 1/2-3/4 jar of caramel topping. I like the idea of the caramel bits. I also add a pinch of nutmeg and allspice. Definitely a fall favorite!

I made this, added some chopped pecans, and it was DELICIOUS!!!! It's true, the colder the butter, the easier to slice it thin enough so you don't use too much butter. I freeze it for a short time next time. I'm disabled, in poor health, but I found this extremely easy to make. I'm going to make it with a spice cake mix next time. It's a huge amount of calories, so I won't make this often, but at least every couple of months. I can't move around enough to burn calories, so have to be careful. But this is definitely something that I will treat myself with when I can. Sent this video to the grandkids who like to cook, they're excited to make this, too. I'm a new subscriber to your channel now.

I've been making this for years but I've never tried caramel with it, i call it "apple crisp" i put the nuts on top with the butter plus i sprinkle a little brown sugar too, so delicious with ive cream

I think the spice cake mix would be great. I make these dump cakes but haven’t made this one. I have the apples and spice cake at home. Thanks Tom and Melissa.. Have you tried an Angel food cake mix and mix it with a can of lemon pudding? Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. That’s it, 2 ingredients and delicious.. Hope you will try it if you haven’t. Again thank you. I just love you both. And yes, Jesus loves you too. ❤❤
