Facebook has changed their company name to Meta and with that said goodbye to the Oculus brand. So Meta Quest it is I guess. Next to that they shared their vision of the Metaverse. In this video I share my thoughts on the future of how Mark Zuckerberg envisions the Metaverse and where I personally want VR to go. We'll be diving deeper into digital worlds such as Roblox and VRChat, the internet 2.0, crypto and so much more!

The Metaverse SHOULD be open or it won’t work. You won’t have enough to do, it won’t be the Web 3.0 as Mark hopes it’ll be. So let’s hope Meta does us right or at least that they will use the decentralized tech like the blockchain (like NFTs) for this because then other companies should be able to connect with their tech and expand.

Am 100% agree with you it should be open where apps systems and gear work together and bring us things the people want not just what one company controlling it or killing it

Great explanation Nathie 👌 Could you please answer a couple of questions I have regarding AR & VR tech & devices:
First- Do you think that AR glasses in combination with VR headsets will go onto replace smartphones and if yes then when (approximately how many more years will it take)?
Second- Do you see BCIs (internal or external) eventually being capable of running AR & VR tech?

Icannot agree more. Nobody no entity should own metaverse. It should remain as open as possible, like the good early internet days, which really got us where we are. If Meta keeps developing it as is their own, they would never 'own' it.

I just realised that I have been using VR for 21 years! I tried an arcade game at a theme park in 2000 where you wore a headset and flew a biplane. It was pretty big. The first VR equipment I owned was Google Cardboard then I got a GearVR then a Quest2. I also read SF so I know of Neuromancer, Snow Crash etc. and love the idea of having the sort of metaverse they had. Actually, Gibsons Neuromancer was more a hacking environment than a friendly world so Neil Stephensons Snow Crash, Reamde etc are more what I want. I have been part of many many online worlds but I want them in VR. The VR versions like VRChat & Altspace are not really what I want. Too cartoony and vacuuous teen oriented.

I'm new to VR, and have no idea what this Metaverse is.
Just wondering about your pronunciation.. are you German since you keep on pronouncing V as F in MetaVerse, or is it supposed to be like this?

I just want the company to focus on people earning money other than throwing money at them while not being too restricted

I want to be excited, but I've seen firsthand the way Facebook altered the minds of everyone in my family, the amount of information to digest is just too confusing for some people. I don't want these people shaping my loved ones anymore. Imagine your loved one being absorbed into a Qanon virtual what I'm afraid of. I hope the people will be able to remain free in their minds and creations of virtual worlds. We could create amazing virtual worlds together, but it's absolutely frightening to trust the same people who admittedly altered our minds forever through the capitalist dopamine trigger driven models of modern social media.
