USGI vs. Eagle Industries: Which Canteen Pouch is Better?

Today, we are going to compare and contrast an Eagle Industries Canteen Pouch with a USGI Canteen Pouch.

We used to put the issued canteen cup in the usgi canteen pouch and put our nods in that. I wrapped it in a rag, gloves, or shemagh so it wouldnt rattle.

I just got 3 MOLLE II canteen pouches in UCP with 3 "brand new" canteens! Love em!!!

I like the extra pouches on the USGI one. You could put water purification tablets in one, and others little things in the other.

The "USGI" pouch is MIL-SPEC, so why are you calling it "light" duty?

Pretty much everyone I've met in the army infantry uses the issued canteen/gp pouch as their nods pouch. I only rarely see it used to hold canteens. The only time people aren't using it to hold their nods is if they are gear dudes and have their own commercial pouch they bought.

Iirc the usgi uses 3 columns of MOLLE. Does the eagle use 2 or 3 columns?

The USGI is better. The Eagle is a pain in the butt to get canteens in and out of

USGI wins this one. Those 2 little pouches are banger and unless you're using it for a nods pouch it's lighter construction works in your favor. It is just a GP pouch after all. And if you want a nods Pouch just buy a nods pouch. The EI canteen isn't really needed at that point.
