The fact that Andruw isn't in the Hall of Fame is criminal.

Andruw Jones was a big reason Atlanta's pitching was so good in the 90's (not to take anything away from Maddux, Glavine and Smoltz). When you had an outfielder that had that kind of speed and a natural sense to run to where the ball was going to end up probably shaved a run off of their ERA's. His ability to get a jump on on the ball allowed him to play shallower than most other outfielders and take away more hits than most other outfielders.

Those days seem like yesterday but the footage looks ancient.

I love the "spider man" catch, but that catch he made against the Expos to end the game was absolutely unbelievable! I was in high school then and I remember watching that game. Still amazing to watch.

I am from Los Angeles, his season in 2008 was incredible. He set all kinds of records that year. I will never forget that time. Every at bat, you could almost predict what was going to happen.

I'm noticing some Jones-Hall-of-Fame detractors due to there being a narrow disparity in fielding percentages across the majors throughout history. That's not the defensive statistic one should look at when judging Jones' defensive prowess.
- Jones is one of five center fielders in history to record at least 400 putouts in a season six times (Willie Mays, Richie Ashburn, Kirby Puckett, and Max Carey round out the list).
- Jones possesses the single best dWAR of any outfielder in major league history at 24.1. Mays, by comparison, finished with a dWAR of 17.9 (dWAR = how many more games a team won due to a player's defense than if an average player had been positioned there).
- Jones ranks first in history in defensive runs saved by a center fielder, at 236. In second? Once again, Mays, a full 53 runs behind Jones, at 183.
- Jones ranks 4th in runs saved across all positions, behind only Brooks Robinson (292), Mark Belanger (240), and Ozzie Smith (239).
- Lastly, Jones is one of only four players in history to have won at least 10 gold gloves and hit at least 400 home runs. The others are Willie Mays, Ken Griffey Jr., and Mike Schmidt.
The popular opinion seems to be that Willie Mays was the best center fielder of all time, without debate. While that's perfectly understandable, if one delves into the numbers, there's only one player who could make a valid argument that he was just as good or even better than Mays, and that's Andruw Jones. If he doesn't get inducted, the Hall of Fame is a joke.

Andruw Jones is the best centerfielder of all time imo. I grew up around Atlanta while he was there and I got to see him make these crazy catches & plays on almost daily basis. No doubt in my mind that he is the best defensive centerfielder ever. He also was a damn good home run hitter and RBI producer. He finished his career with 10 Gold Gloves in a row in centerfield and over 400 home runs. Definitely a Hall of Famer in my book!

He is top 5 best defensive outfielder of all time. I feel like there aren't as many highlights of diving catches as some other players because he got the best jumps of any player ever. He made spectacular plays look easy.

Best defensive OUTfielder in the history of the game. He bailed out Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz & the rest of the Braves pitching staff time and time again.

If he doesn’t get into the Hall of Fame the whole thing is a sham.

I’m a lifelong Montrealer and I grew up a diehard Expos fan as a kid from the 80’s until they left in 2004. There was no team we respected more than the Braves. My grandfather would always get tickets so we could go to Braves-Expos games. Andruw Jones was incredible and I saw him rob Expos batters all the time. He is one of the best outfielders I’ve ever seen. I’ve followed the Braves since the Expos left here. To me, when I watch the Braves it reminds me of the Expos because in the eyes of most people my age from Montreal (people who are around 40-45 years old now), the Braves were our biggest and most respected rival when we were growing up. In my eyes, the two teams are always connected for that reason. Have a great day everyone and long live baseball!
