Two Uniformed Rutland Police Officers Nearly Struck by Vehicle

On the morning of July 22, 2015, Rutland Police Detective Chris Giglio and Patrolman Travis McCauley were nearly struck by a vehicle while crossing Main Street (State Route 122A) in a marked crosswalk. Motorists need to yield or stop for all pedestrians in marked crosswalks (MGL Chapter 89 Section 11). This driver, whom admitted to texting on or about the time of the incident, was stopped by the officers minutes later, and received a $200 fine.
