Summer Project - Make an INSANELY LOUD Bluetooth Amplifier!

preview_player
Показать описание
In this video we'll be making a wireless bluetooth-enabled amplifier so that we can put old bookshelf speakers to good use!
Not only is the sound quality fantastic, but it can also go super loud! It's also quite easy to build, and doesn't require any special tools - you can get away with just a hammer, nail, and a screwdriver if needed. Seriously!

Happy building!

Oh, by the way, here's the note about the little switches:

These switches change the gain mode of the amp. If they're both on, the amp can reach insane(er) volume levels. However, to hit these volume levels without distortion, the amp needs 25v, which is more than our batteries can provide. The amp is loud enough with them off, and it also means that the signal to noise ratio is MUCH improved, so I don't really recommend messing with them.

Some peeps have suggested that the live tests have been faked because (I presume) it sounds so 'clean'. This isn't the case - it really IS all live audio. There are two reasons it sounds so 'clean', the first being that the recordings were done outside, where there is minimal echo. This is particularly noticeable in the field test, which is to be expected as it's a field - there really is nothing for the sound to bounce off.

The second reason it's so clean is that all the live audio was captured with TWO Rode NT1-A studio mics in an ORTF stereo config (carried by someone off camera). This config was chosen because I needed the high SPL capability to avoid distortion. These mics are also cardioid mics, which means they reject off-axis sounds (like echos) which also contributed to the 'clean' sound.

Hope this helps to clarify things! :)

This is two years late saying as I just have watched the video, but I can confirm that he isn't lying about the audio. Having watched his portable mic build before this I know he has the audio gear to record at a level that is going to be higher quality then what most peoples headsets and or speakers can reproduce, an added bonus to my claim is I have recreated this genius device and tested it, and it really does work. Keep up the amazing work +DIY Perks

I've watched this like 20 times purely because of the inspiration. Voice over is 10/10 and video tutorial 10/10.

Found out about this amplifier thanks to you.

I used acrylic glass and a nice copper plate as a logo instead of the aluminium, and I'm powering it via a universal laptop charger.

Used it for my wedding first and now it's got a permanent place in the garage workshop!

I absolutely love it, thank you for sharing this.

Just finished my build. thinking of putting the whole thing in a travel suitcase with wheels to make it more portable. Great video!

Finally, a youtube video where the narrator says "aluminium".

I built this the year this video came out. As a direct response to the popularity of this video, chinese ebayers started making custom boxes that came with the Amp made out of Acrylic and an all in one 10 battery tray. This meant all you had to buy besides that one purchase was some velcro strips to adhere it to the speakers. All in all it cost be about £25, including the 10 rechargeable Amazon basic's batteries. I could play music at a very decent volume for 7hrs or so off of one charge. I've used it for many BBQ's, what a great build this is.

nothing fake about this.
this is the amplifier that I was hoping to replace with one that somebody said how to "make" but this is a premade store-bought amplifier not a home made amp.
it's a neat project.
and a nice way to mobilize an amp and a nice way to enclose an amp.

Funny I'm watching this 7 yrs later and the quality of your work has improved immeasurably. It's insane how smaller and probably better you could make this now. Please please do pdf parts lists with all your projects please. Oh any chance of doing a triple monitor display to act with a tablet or computer?

With no heatsink attached, I highly doubt that amplifier chip is actually rated at 50 watts RMS per channel... maybe 50 watts maximum (peak) for both channels combined, which would probably come out to about 10 to 15 watts RMS per channel. However, with efficient speakers, that's still plenty of power for it to get very loud!

What I love about you guys are that you provide tricks and easy ways out in case the tools necessary aren't available.

I like that you used the same song that off the ranch uses in the beginning of his videos.

I ordered one and i have to say, it's a really nice little board. One thing to be aware of, they don't seem to have a power button and auxiliary jack anymore. At least mine doesn't.

Protected 18650's, insulated or at least covered board to top it all a protected charger as well. Those speakers are awesome for sure.
